The most common types of petrochemical products are base and white oils. In this article today a brief discussion will take place on these six types of products. You will also come to know here, their applications.
So these are the six common types of petrochemical industry products. Now I will mention their application.
Uses of Base Oil:
All these type of products are used to produce different types of lubricating stuffs like metal processing fluids, greases or motor oil.
Application of White Oil:
The application of this product is mainly found in cosmetic industry and plastic industry. It is mainly used for processing polymer. In cosmetic industry, this product is used for making petroleum jelly, lotions, beauty cream, hair tonic etc.
Bottom Lines:
So here, you came to know today everything about 5 type of base oils and white oil. The article also covered the application of these products. Group I is the most low-cost lubricant in the market but Group II is the most widely used product. It is important to keep and export these petrochemical industry products only in ISO certified drums and containers. If you still have any question regarding any of these products, feel free to use the comment box below.
- Group I Base Oil: This product contains over 0.03 percent sulfur. The saturation level of this lubricant is below 90 percent. It has a viscosity index range of 80 -120. The ideal working range of this product is from 32 degrees F to 150 degrees F. The refining process of this product is called solvent refine which is the simpler process.
- Group II Base Oil: The sulfur level of this product lies below 0.03 percent. However, the lubricant is over 90 percent saturated. The product has a viscosity index of 80 - 120. The refining process of this product is called hydrotrated.
- Group III Base Oil: Similar to Group II, this product contains below 0.03 percent sulfur and it is over 90 percent saturated. But its viscosity index is over 120. This lubricant goes through a hydro-cracked refining process.
- Group IV Base Oil: This is synthetic base lubricant because it goes through a synthesizing process. The product has a broad working range. Users can use this type product even in extreme cold condition.
- Group V Base Oil: This type of lubricant gets mixed with different base stocks that enhance the properties of the product. This type of lubricant can be used in high temperature.
- White Oil: This product get manufactured from base oil that contains saturated paraffinic and hydrocarbon. It goes through a special type of refining process that ensures there is no sulfur, nitrogen or aromatics in the product. The product is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.
